About Us

Thank you for visiting Climate Physics Laboratory.

Climate Physics Laboratory is one of the leading groups for climate study at the Department of Climate & Energy Systems Engineering, Ewha Womans University, formerly at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Seoul National University.

Our work aims at improving our understanding of human and natural drivers of global and regional climate change in East Asia. The Earth’s climate system involves atmospheric circulation and oscillations, radiative and hydrological energy flows and their linkage with various physical processes such as tropical cyclone, monsoon, cold surge, cloud, aerosol, and vegetation.

Ongoing research topics cover a wide range of scientific problems about typhoon and its forecast, East Asian monsoon and Arctic Oscillation, aerosol-cloud-precipitation interaction and the anthropogenic driver, tropical cloud and precipitation, etc.

The works are based on the analyses of satellite retrievals, surface observations, and reanalysis data, but also the simulations of regional and global climate models.
