Research Interest
I have had a deep interest in tropical cyclones (TC) since childhood, so I am continuing to pursue my interests in the lab by doing research on this particular topic. When TCs make landfall, they become one of the most devastating natural disasters, some claiming up to hundreds and thousands of lives. To alleviate the effects of this weather phenomenon, a thorough understanding and accurate prediction of various TC variables including track, intensity, size, and precipitation is necessary. Currently, I am investigating an abnormal pathway to TC genesis and the rapid intensification of TCs over the subtropical western North Pacific. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to the reduction of damages and casualties induced by TCs by decreasing the error of TC forecasts.
